22nd April is Earth Day – dedicated to raising awareness about environmental issues and encouraging people to take action to protect our planet.

This year, the theme for Earth Day is ‘Restore Our Earth’, and it focuses on the importance of restoring ecosystems and rebuilding communities in a sustainable way… sooooo let me tell you about Arizona Muse!

I was super privileged to hear her speak at the AllBright summit day interviewed by the fabulous Ben Hurst (podcast: Climate Curious).

Arizona is a British-American model, who has launched a charity initiative called ‘Dirt’ to support sustainable fashion and promote environmentally-friendly practices in the fashion industry. The initiative aims to educate people about the true cost of fashion and encourage them to make mindful choices when it comes to buying clothes. Not only that – she educates on WHERE our fashion comes from and would you believe it’s from soil – hence DIRT!

Through Dirt, Arizona is working towards promoting circular fashion, reducing waste, and encouraging the use of sustainable materials and then putting back into the ecosystem of the farmers and land that provide us with the materials. She believes that fashion can be both beautiful and sustainable, and that we can all make a difference by making small changes in our daily lives.

On Earth Day, I cannot pretend to be perfect at protecting our planet – are any of us? We live in a world of convenience and ignorance, how often do we read the labels or check where something is from? But we can take a moment just now, to breathe in the Spring air and reflect on our impact on the planet and consider maybe just one small step we can take today towards restoring it. I know I want to be better at creating a sustainable future for generations to come.

If you want to read more Arizona has an amazing reading list on her IG that can be found here and if you prefer to listen than read, check out Ben’s podcast here.

If you want to talk to me about sustainability in your business let’s chat – I’m not an expert but I know some experts! Learning and asking questions is taking action and a great step.
