Shifting gears…

It was at my desk, talking to my coach, when it dawned on me. This wasn’t an option, it was a calling. An unshakable feeling down to the very last cell in my body that I had to share my passion for empowering women. I had no idea, in that moment, that my life would […]

It was at my desk, talking to my coach, when it dawned on me. This wasn’t an option, it was a calling. An unshakable feeling down to the very last cell in my body that I had to share my passion for empowering women. I had no idea, in that moment, that my life would change forever. Or even more shockingly, just how much it would change…

I had worked my entire career in professional services, the standard 9.30 to 5.30 shift (and all the extra hours to boot), it was all I knew. I had sought validation from my peers, my employer, the staff around me, I had played the role of darling of HR and I had played the role of tough whip. I had climbed, slowly but surely to head of people. Could I really change now? Could I do this?

I had been working in human resources for over a decade. I loved my job, but something inside me kept nagging me to do something more. I had always been interested in starting my own business, but the thought of leaving the stability of a full-time job was too daunting – the thought of leaving the money for starters!!

Then the game changed. I had a family, we were all at home, I had everything to lose.

I attended a career accelerator programme with AllBright. I listened intently as other women shared their stories of how they were frustrated with the lack of progression, being seen but not heard. They talked about the challenges they faced, the risks they took, and the rewards they were NOT reaping. Something clicked inside me, and I knew that it was time to take the leap.

I’d love to say I spent the next few months researching and planning – but I am more of an impulsive, just do it kind of girl. I knew that I wanted to start a business that would help other women, I knew I wanted to experience something different for myself… so I decided to focus on coaching and consulting for small businesses. I still had self doubt – would anyone hire me? Would I be good enough? What I did know – was that I absolutely COULD help others.

So I started. Just like that! It was tough going at first, but I was determined to make it work. Slowly but surely, I am building a roster of loyal HR clients who appreciate my expertise, but more importantly appreciate our partnership together and the helping hand I can provide.

So what next? As the business grows, I am passionate about becoming an inspiration to others – particularly those in HR. I want to share my story.

Your calling

I feel a huge sense of pride when a client turns a corner, knowing that we have partnered together to help them smash the ceiling and redefine what success and appreciation means to them. I want to help others achieve their dreams. I want my story to encourage others to take a chance and feel passionate about their career in HR.

Looking back on my journey, the freedom and flexibility I have to raise a family and work is absolutely the right decision for me but most importantly, the fulfilment in knowing that I am making a difference in the lives of others, I can’t imagine doing anything else.
